Default Ares for Mac

hey everyone i just switched over from a pc to a mac and i had a quick question. i've been using ares for years now on my pc and just love everything about it. my question is whether or not there is an equivalence of ares for mac users. i searched for countless hours on this topic and yes i know of all the programs out there and have downloaded all of them and none are near ares. i think the best part about ares i liked was the search feature within the program and that it told me the bitrate for songs and resolutions for videos when i was searching them up. if you guys know of any programs that work identically to ares please let me know. ill take other suggestions as well! currently im using utorrent but it's very hard (compared to ares) to find songs specifically single songs in the highest quality by torrenting. movies i learned to torrent awhile ago so im fine with that but it's the music aspect that really annoys me. any help is appreciated!

AFAIK there has never been a Mac version of Ares, it is a Windows only program.

I do not know the full story about Ares, and what versions support the Gnutella network. As far as the ares galaxy network goes, there's supposed to be an application called iGotcha! which was designed for it, but I do not know if that app is still developed.

On the Gnutella network, LimeWire 5/LimeWire Pirate Edition will show audio bitrates and video resolutions if you set your search result columns up to show this in classic view mode. ie: control-click/right-click the heading-column and choose to show which columns you want such as resolution, length, bitrate, extension, etc. LimeWire 4 also had similar abilities, but the video height and width dimensions were shown in separate columns.

LimeWire has torrent support. But like many part-time torrent programs is not anywhere near as good as the specifically designed torrent programs. Such support is rather basic IMHO.

Thanks for the reply! I'll try iGotcha! and see if it fits my needs. As far as lime wire goes how reliable is it? I've heard alot of bad things from it so I stayed away but I did use it once or twice on my pc and it had the features I wanted but half the files were sketchy as in viruses or wouldn't open. What tormenting site would be best for song downloads speckfically singles not albums? I use pirate bay for my movie downloads and it's great but for songs it's vague and doesn't give too many results. Once again really appreciate all the help

Private torrent sites are the best. Sorry but I cannot give such details publicly on this forum. But some private torrent sites are fussy about which clients and versions you use, because they revolve around users keeping a decent share ratio and other torrent clients do not behave properly with such trackers.
Otherwise for public torrents, google can be your friend there.

As for using the Gnutella network, it's a learning experience. Unless you learn how to avoid the bad files then yes, you will have issues. And of course learn how to find what you are looking for.
