Forget LimeWire get Poisoned I have been watching both the up and down loads in both programs on the same material. Poisoned smoothly proceeds to complete DLs at varying speeds up to 18/20Kb generally without breaks. LimeWire runs for barely a handful of seconds, usually at miserable speeds, before cutting out. If you do finally suceed in getting a file it can take days for a small file. Large files you can forget. Poisoned successfully downloads hundreds of files in the time it takes LW to barely get 2 or 3. To exacerbate the problem LW handles long lists of DLs very badly. et voilà is correct. This is SPAMMING and will not be allowed. A simple suggestion for you is to post in the General Forums if you wish to introduce/push a client which does not currently have a specific forum here. Poisoned also scans Gnutella so that doesn't make this a suitable forum? Absurd to suggest that a program as solid as LimeWire cannot stand critiscm or competition. I could be totally and specifically LimeWire in a thread listing all posters who report exactly what I report. It seems to me there is a specific peformance problem with mac users that your "anti-spam" rules would have swept under the carpet, well hidden from those too innocent to recognise them. Are you actually a user of LW on Mac in OS9 or OSX? If you are, then you might be able to be specific in your recommendations for rectifying LW's poor performance. If not, then you may be extremely misguided in your statements on the subject. btw Whilst I do not claim absolute expertise, I have been employing exactly the techniques (in my ignorance) that you subsequently recommended in another thread. |

A post that expresses negative views about a client or Gnutella Network in general will receive no 'special attention' from the moderators here. Repetitive posting on exactly the same subject, spread through many threads and done within a short period of time will receive 'attention'. There is no deliberate intention to 'protect' any client in these forums. There is no desire to censor members and guests here other than in regards to 'socially' offensive behaviour and/or encouragement to infringe copyright.

Limewire in the visage of Acquisition ( http://acquisitionx.com ) does work quite neat for me.

Are you all Enron ex-employees? A discussion of any subject should include its suitability for the task proposed. As well as bugs, performance and compatibility issues. Not just "nice paint job". I have scoured these forums for postings on LimeWire performance and have found a common thread of dissatisfaction from many Mac OSX users. The recommended solutions are mostly tactical methods of obtaining successful DLs which apply to any client (I worked those out years ago). I have tested LW transfers directly with another user and they went quickly and smoothly enough. It is the real world transfer that is so unsuccessful. In my experience LW does not maintain connection and transfer for long enough periods to complete files. It seems to connect and drop off over and over again, so the result is very little finishes. I am able to compare that to my alternatives with the same machine and and network settings and there is really no comparison. That is achieved without major fiddlings with settings, firewalls or network. But I am not supposed to notice that! btw Some of the postings here show a distinct ignorance of Mac issues, so the comments are not too surprising. |
