creating a private download netwerk
 

Hi,

We have a large website, with more then 500 gb of download traffic. And we are considering to expand, but the cost of bandwith are to high.

we have though of a solluction, we would like to setup a private network, thats not connected with the large networks like gnutella(2). Where we share file's, that we allow. We have like 1 tera ( we would like to start of with 100 gb) of file's, and don't want other file's than those file's shared.

We wish to use existing technologie, preferebly in java, anyone know's a p2p server, in java preferably that can be customized for the above case?

we wish to develop a custom client to, no advertisment, free (so can be based on open source), with extra feature's for our community!

What type & content & topic files would you allow? And would this be mostly your own content? And what purpose would this content be? Who or what type of people will want to be a part & of this network (share) you wish to set up? :)

We would mostly allow mp3/rm/ogg/wav! This would be about 5 gb of our own content, but we have xs to a lot of other content within our network. We wish that anyone would have xs to this, only we don't want everyone to be able to share wat he or she want's ( and no user accounts or anything).

The purpose of this content would be spredding audio for our visitor's!

So you're looking at purely an audio sharing network. What type of audio? And why limit it? :D :cool:

What does your own content consist of?

Islamic related lecture's and recitation, we need it to be authentic, with no crap enc!

A private network is very simple to establish, but first you should think, if it is really necessary.

You can serve those files via Gnutella and verify them by putting magnet-links on your page, which the people can cick to get the download.

With Phex you can now also distribute collections of files to your users automatically by giving them a magma-list.

If you want to use the search funktions of p2p-Programs, so your material is easier to find, you can also use Phex and make it use a Private Gnutella Network as standard.
