Default Connection problem with ALL p2p programs, (help wanted)

I cannot connect to ANY P2P program i download and run. These include, Limewire, Shareazaa, Bittorrent, WinMX, BearShare and many more. I am running a computer with is on a home network, and it is the same for the other two computers on this netwrok. For months these programs have been working (mainly limewire i use) and all of a sudden dont, even tho i have changed no settings. The router has an in built hardware firewall which is always disabled. I have also disabled Windows XP firewall and tried to run the programs again and there is the same problem. I have opened the port for limewire and again no change. Can anyone help me? i do no think it is the Firewall which is causing the problem.

Sorry if this is in the wrong section, i dont know, please move it if it is

all the apps you mention (mostly gnutella) are high profile, with known (and therefore easily blockable) ports...it is probable that your ISP has started blocking these ports, hence you can't get connected

I have done it exactly how it says on that website. I do not think it is a Firewall issue. I have tried

Both firewalls off
Windows firewall off, router firewall on with ports forwarded
windows firewall on, router firewall off
windows firewall on ports forwarded, router fire on ports forwarded,

I have tried this on all three computers on the network. I have noticed that i can connect from first thing in the morning, till about 11am GMT, which is the time the americans will be waking up. I was wondering if that has anything to do with it

ok, I AM NOT A NOOB WHEN IT COMES TO NETWORKING, can u please read the posts a bit better instead of giving me links to tell me something i did a month ago

I am after someone to help me. I have now disconnected my network, and connected to the internet through the origonal modem, which has no firewall. I have forwarded the posts for Limewire on Windows Firewall, and also disconnected it, but am still having trouble connecting to limewire. I noticed that even tho i have no firewalls, the firewall icon is still on the bottom of limewire. Any help?

maybe not a n00b, but certainly a whiner...

again, widely known ports, and easily blockable...so what if somebody you 'know' is on the same ISP...is he down the block, or in a different city?....different managers, and different nodes on the same ISP...

The_Point being that maybe ports are being blocked, maybe they are being throttled, and maybe not...I just had this problem with BitTorrent...I manually forced the ports to a totally different range, and BINGO, I was connectable...since yur not a n00b, I'm sure you can figure out how to try it yourself...

go into the settings for whatever client you are using and look for the entry that specifies the ports used...change them from the most likely default of 6348 (gnutella clients) to something else...
