Audio but NO Video on mpeg downloads

Hi-Can someone help Please. When I download a music video (usually) mpeg or AVI, i can hear the sound, but no picture. I have Windows XP w/ Service Pack 3. I use Windows Media Player as my player. I have D/Led several videos and NONE will play video. I have plenty of Ram=2G and lots of space on my hard drive. I do maintenence on my pc every week including defragmentation. Can someone please help! Thanks!
