As for ATI's and Nvidia's Drivers thats doubtfull maybe possibly along the lines of Nvidia Otherwise ATI's Drivers where stable on the release of Vista with the exception of 7.3cat, on the other hand Nvidia Claimed they had vVista rdy drivers but actualy never did they are still dealing with Beta for whatever reasons.

But even on XP the new cat drivers work fine so maybe it is a combination of Vista and the new LImewire.

This i could see because a previous version of limewire worked fine pre-vista release.

Now regarding the splash screen The splash screen goes by fine it's right after that when LW loads up the interface it just close's down, to be more percise it varies around the time the pop up comes up with the upgrading to pro or continue to use, sometiems i'm able to get past that pop up other times i am not, and it's not the pop-up itself, it just normaly shutsdown within 30seconds of loading.

as soon as i double click the .exe the splash screen comes up then after the the interface loads then somtimes i have enough time to click on continue to use his version and sometiems i don't. then thats when the whole program just shuts down without any errors.

Now the Video card/drivers wouldn't play a role unless there was something in the coding which was causing the vid card to crash or lock-up, but with vista's new ability to reset the video driver you rarely ever get any blue screen from video card/driver failure unless it's a complete lock up and the system must reboot

or the program itself, also this would moreso be a hardware/driver issue not relating to

but then again it would point to that specifi program, because if it's with Java in General then it would be either the Vid card, Java or the two combined.

This also wouldn't make sense due to so many other programs using splash screens that run completly fine, if it was something with splash screen it would happen more so accross the board but it doesn't.

there for it points more towards either Java or Limewire or a combination of the two.

Well your assumptions of LimeWire having problems with Vista you are wrong. The only problem I have ever had with LimeWire on Vista was when Beta1 came out I had to install Java 6. And I have been running Vista and LimeWire since the first release of Vista Betas. (Every version of LimeWire on both 32bit and 64bit version of Vista) I am currently running (4.13.4 beta)

Some where along the line there is a driver issue in your set up or Java is not installed properly. (Most Common) but from your previous post I assume you know what you are doing and have installed it properly.

So my advice would be if you know Java is installed properly start uninstalling software and hardware drivers until you find the problem.

LimeWire works with no problems on 5 different computers running Vista in my house and on allot of computers throughout the world running Vista.

So because your not having any problems your assuming there are none????

Thats real smart,

and your forgetting what i said several times b4, The Pre-Vista Versions of Limewire worked completly fine these new Versions do not work,

And there are several problems with Vista, theres compatibility with Aero, there's random infinite type loop errors when Admin rights is enabled.

Again because you are not experincing them does not mean they do not exist, that is the point of a beta release too, to test and get the bugs out of software before an actual release.

If there where no such problems then there would be no need for a "beta"

Now in regards to Drivers you seem to be bent on it being a "Driver" issue, now explain to me how several different systems using several different types of Drivers all have the exact same type of problem???

My Personal system
MSI K8 Neo 4 PE
AMD 64 X2 3800+
2gigs ram
1x300Gig SATA 300
Logitech g15
Razor Copperhead
SB X-Fi Fatality EXtreme Gamer Pro
X1800XT

4 Server systems Transport GT20 (B2865) - 3 Vista Ultimates, 1 Home Server Beta
Parts ranging from
AMD Dual Core Opteron 165, and 175
with 2gigs ECC ram each
1-4 500gig SATA 300
1-2x PCI 10/100/1000 Nic

1 Latop
Enpower 630
Intel Chipset 945iGm
1gig Ram
80gig SATA 300
G15 Logitech
Razor Cooperhead

Now explain how all these systems coud have the exact same problem let me know what Driver would be the same across the board on all of these.

Since your not having any of my problems why don't you explain to me what your systems specs are.

also needing to update your JAVA would not be considered a problem.

so what your trying to tell me is that Because since you and the rest of the world have no problems there are none is what it comes down too?

and that my problems must be a fluke along with the other poster and several other people i personaly know that are having this problem?

yea i'm in the same boat as you, the only reason why I actualy even signed up on this forum was maybe to get some help after several weeks of getting annoyed, i'm sure that when more people start coming forward they'll see it's not just "me" with this so-called problem since i was like the only one who posted, yet there are more then just me now posting about it too.

edit, I actualy was able to find a 4.12.8/11 installer yet still didn't work i know it had to have been older then that one because i really don't update much. ughgugugug

When I was fighting with it to get it to work, I read from one end to the other of this forum for something to point to the problem, but found nothing. I don't know what the problem is, but I suspect Limewire itself, or a permissions problem within Vista itself. After going to my wits end with it, I've just gave up. You name it, I've tired it. Installed and uninstalled every version of java I could get my paws on, ran Limewire in every compatibility mode listed, ran it as Admin, UAC on, UAC off. It opens, then closes, that's all I get for my viewing pleasure.

i agree with you, It's just irritating, check your logs though to make sure your getting the same error log that i am, if your not and your still having this issue it would suggest that theres more then one things causing this problem, if you hvae the same error log as me then it's something specific.

I've also done the same as you, except for the UAC(didn't feel it was worth it if admin rights didn't allow it doubted disabling UAC would).

this is some serious weaksauce

Gigabyte GA-M57SLI-S4 Motherboard, and all that goes along with that.

AMD 64 2X 4200+

7300GT Video card

320 Gig SATA

Using onboard Realtek audio, latest drivers.

Point me to the problem driver, i'll remove it, and watch Limewire open, then close.
