Unhappy Files missing from libary

I have recently started using LW again and downloaded a number of files a couple of nights ago with no problems. Connected again this morning and downloaded some mp3's. They show in the libary in LW but not in the location set by limewire on my HD. I can play them in Windows MP but can not find them on my hard drive. I have searched using every possible string I can think of and uninstalled and re-installed LW and stil can't find them.

Help, this is driving me mad!!!!!!!

The only advice I can give you is a post that one of the developers made in reference to this problem...

Go back and read the link WW left from the devolipers You will need to make another folder to save your files in.

Quote:
If you're using Vista and want to see your files outside of LimeWire, you MUST make the save directory somewhere within your user directory. There'll be a warning about this in the next beta if you're using Vista and use a different directory, and we'll backport a 4.12 version with this warning also

Gaz_1878, I've had the same problem. They go to LW library, but nowhere else on my HD. I made a different folder, they still go to LW library. I gave up.

Vista tried to outsmart itself in dealing with folder permission problems. If a user tries to save a file to a location outside of their user directory, it will create a pseudo-directory somewhere else that only the running program will see. When that program runs, it will appear as if the file is in the expected location, but no other programs nor exploring from the desktop will see it.

If you're using Vista and want to see your files outside of LimeWire, you MUST make the save directory somewhere within your user directory. There'll be a warning about this in the next beta if you're using Vista and use a different directory, and we'll backport a 4.12 version with this warning also.

any way of correcting this problem

It's better for me just to let the files go into LW library. At least I can find them there. I'm not stressing over it anymore. Vista has a way of hiding files. I know this from an HP Tech that I spoke with on the phone, concerning another matter. I'm ok with viewing them in the library.. I just drag and drop them into separate files of my choice. :-)
