Default Can't connect using Vista

I just got a new computer, installed LW and can't connect. New computer OS is Vista . . . didn't have the problem with W2K or XP. I use ZoneAlarm firewall and opened the UPD & TCP port as suggested in the support area. Anyone else run into this and figure it out?

Honestly in my experience no! i have been on nearly a week now trying to figure it out trying everything everyone has suggested on here and it still won't connect for me. Like you my problem started when I bought a laptop with Vista on the other week, because my old XP laptop works fine using all the same equipment and settings etc as the new one. but then I know people who have vista yet LW works for them... It's really bugging me because I don't know what other program will be good to use if I cant ever get this working.

Default Cant connect since Vista

I too have tried everything, and exchanged many emails with tech support. The funny thing is, even after I disable all possible firewalls, LW still shows that it is detecting one. I know for a fact that there isn't one running. I think it thinks something about Vista is blocking it. Can anyone help?

Default Limewire Help Us

No, i have not yet read where someone figured out how to connect. Limewire, if you're listening, this isn't just a few people, it's a major issue and we're spending hours of wasted time trying to fix something that aparently can't be fixed. Somebody from Limewire tell us what's up with Vista.

I just wanted to share this because maybe it will help someone...

I have vista on a brand new computer and also use zone alarm. I combed through these threads for weeks trying everything suggested because I was only getting 1 green bar in Limewire and it kept saying it was connecting to the network. Well, I uninstalled zone alarm and saw no change. I also opened up the ports on my wireless router (using the instructions provided in the forums) and still nothing.

But, FINALLY Limewire is working!!!! YOU HAVE TO UN-INSTALL BOTH ZONE ALARM AND LIMEWIRE. THEN REINSTALL LIMEWIRE FIRST AND THEN REINSTALL ZONE ALARM. when i uninstalled zone alarm the first time I did this in the reverse order, and my connection in Limewire still didn't work! When you do the re-install of zone alarm make sure to allow Limewire. After that it should work fine (considering you have no conflicting firewalls, and you have allowed limewire through any OS or router/modem firewalls)

I know how incredibly frustrating this is so I hope maybe this solution can help someone! Also, from some of the other threads there seem to be other people using vista who have figured out how to work limewire. Good Luck!!!!

clb1041983 - RIGHT ON!!
The uninstall of LW and ZoneAlarm and then re-installing LW first worked! Spent a week and a half and your suggestion was smooth!
Thank you!

Does ZoneAlarm come with Windows Vista? The reason I ask is because I have never bought Zone Alarm by itself... yet I can't connect to bearshare or limewire.

Not necessarily, your connection problems could be due to something else..
Could you supply these details please...
