Default LPE (file_girl) won't open!

Hi there, you may notice I'm new to this fourm, but that's besides the point. I've been looking for help to my problem on this thread (with some progress made thanks to ya'll ). I have downloaded the LPE package (that comes with the security and limestarter programs) on my Windows 7 PC.

My problem is when I try to open LPE (through limestarter), instead of Limewire opening, Winrar opens up the limewire.jar file. I don't really know what to do next with this.

I have both java 1.6 and 1.7 (both 32 and 64 bit) installed.

Can you help a newbie out with this?

Try this, open up WinRar, go to Options menu and choose Settings. Choose the Integration tab and make sure JAR is unchecked.

See if that helps. Let us know if it does not fix it. Not sure but a reboot might be required for it to take full effect to be sure the file associations are reset.

Other alternative: find the LimeWire.jar file. For Windows 7 that is:
C:\Program Files (x86)\LimeWire\lib\LimeWire.jar

Choose open with, choose Default program ... select Java (which should be listed as an option.) Make sure the Always open with checkbox is checked.

I think that did it!

Thank you very much!

I have to admit, I was quite stumped...

Glad to hear and thanks for the feedback. If it were the second option that fixed it then, in this case you started the jar file manually. The real test will be when you restart LW using LimeStart again. Perhaps both suggestions may have fixed it.
LimeStart is best run with Administrator permissions on Windows 7.
