I have Norton AV 2007, and i tried uninstalling it to see if that would work, but LW still wouldn't connect.

You can use Avast or any number of other anti viruses that do not affect LimeWire.

Avast is free and is among the top rated anti viruses. It also uses far less resources than most AV software.

But I did see where another member of the forums was having problems with Avast causing timeouts with there ISP. You can get Avast at the link below

Did you try Portforwarding

Default Getting LimeWire to work with Vista/McAfee

I finally got LimeWire to work by finding the port LimeWire uses to communicate and making an exception in the McAfee firewall. Right after I saved the settings, my internet browser came back online and I could finally browse through music. Hope this helps you out.

To find LimeWire's listening port go to Tools/Options/Click the Advanced drop down arrow/Firewall Config and the port number will be listed at the top of the menu. Just add that port number (or set it to one that is already open) to your firewall excluded list.

Grandpa, I tried downloading avast and then port forwarding it still didn't work. I also downloaded Bearshare and it works. I know these two basically are the same and I still don't know why LW wont connect.

Go to Start>Control Panel>Security Center on the left side of the security center pop-up chose Windows Firewall on the firewall pop-up choose change settings. On the settings pop-up choose exceptions. Un-check the LimeWire box the re-check the LimeWire box then click OK and see if that helps

Apparently you are able to get to the Internet or did you make this post from a different computer.
