Default Lime WIre Dose Not Connect

Already using Java 1.6, Windows is up to date I'm just behind the proxy but Limewire is still running on my other desktop on Win XP

2. What firewalls you have? WINDOWS FIREWALL ONLY & DEFENDER
3. How much ram? 2 GB
4. Hard Disk space available? 60 GB
5. Connection type? (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.) broadband
6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers? Broadcom 440x & Broadcom 802.11g

7. Where are you trying to connect from (house, appartment complex, school, student accomodation, work, etc.)? work
8. What version of LimeWire (LW) & Java do you have? (Go to LW's menu Help>About LW...) Will show both LW & Java version. 4.10.0 & Already tried 4.12
9. Who is your ISP provider (Internet Service Provider)? NAYA TEL
10. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there? "YES TEST WORKED"
11. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? If yes, please give details of set up. connection is shared through proxy but Limewire is working on WIndows XP from the location
12. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user. New Problem
13. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface? YES

Default also cannot connect with windows vista.

i've tried everything i know to get it to connect. i've tried inputting the port permissions in my firewall software(including windows firewall and mcafee). i've even tried disabling the friewalls firewalls and still nothing.


1. what OS version? (eg: Windows 98, XP,OSX, Vista) Vista
2. What firewalls you have ? Windows and McAfee
3. How much ram ? 1GB
4. Hard Disk space available ? 42GB
5. Connection type (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.) ? cable internet
6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers ? modem: Terayon TJ715 router: Linksys 2.4GHz 802.11g model number WRT54G2 v.2
7. Where are you trying to connect from (house, appartment complex, school, student accomodation, work, etc.) ? Apartment
8. What version,LimeWire & Java,Go to L/W's Help/About L/W, THIS show both LW & Java version.? limewire 4.12.11 java 1.6.0-oem
9. Who is your ISP provider (Internet Service Provider) ? time warner road runner
10. Do this test click here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ should say 'Your test worked!. What happens ? test worked
11. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? If yes, please give details of set up. yes. we have a wireless router. i went and purchased a long ethernet cord so my laptop can connect better.
12. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user.? i've been usin glimewire for years. it's a recent problem i'm having on my new laptop. it worked before on my laptop. it's only been since i moved into this new apatment a month ago.
13. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface ? yes
14. Have you given full permisions for LimeWire to pass through your Firewall ?yes
15. XP users, Please state XP firewall on or off.?

Try going to your control panel and clicking on the windows firewall. Then choose (allow a program through the firewall) in the next pop-up box choose (add program) then browse and go to LimeWire and click on it then click oK.

Uninstall McAfee and get a different AV like avast. McAfee is known to cause problems with LimeWire.

I'm just an average woman that doesn't know the "insides" of computer stuff, but I am so glad I found this forum. I have limewire installed on my computer at work (running xp) and found what to try to get limewire to work on my home computer (running vista). I have been so close to box my dang computer up and take it back to the store and wait another 6 months til all the bugs were worked out of everything! Thanks so much!

i already allowed limewire in my firewall, already allowed diffrent ports in my firewall, but finally i changed my port in LW to 6046 to 6048 and it worked.
