Vista, LW, Firewalls OK, "calm down" does anyone have an answer or suggestion that I could use for this problem....I have Vista and I had Mcafee I have uninstalled Mcafee completely and installed avast.....I still can't get lw to work also i tried to go to the site were it test it won't even open the page and I get a message that says that my windows firewall is configured to allow this connection however thier is a remote firewall that might be blocking it, and if I have access to it then configure it to allow connections through TCP port 6346. Ok I don't know how to do this or how to even start looking where I need to do this. If anyone can help please let me know. http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ this is were I went to test. had the same problem but I had to go into my internet connection and change it so that it would connect to the limewire network and I also uninstalled mcafee and installed Avast anti-virus and now LW works!! You can try that. |

I have the same problem but I don't run McAffe I run the Norton Internet protection thing. I've gone and manually opened a port with the ID code IN LW for their port, and still nothing. I've approved it with Vista's "Approved for FireWall Butt ****ing" list.. Still nothing.. Should I just go and download Avast and uninstall Norton? -DR |

Anyone with Vista Problems, please read!!!! I have been using Vista business for about a year and a half now. I know I've used Limewire on my machine before, but recently, I noticed that that I kept getting the connecting message that alot of you mentioned and it would never connect. I don't use Mcafee, so I knew that wasn't the problem. I use symantec, windows defender and windows firewall. I disabled all of those services(including security center) and I still had the same problem. I downloaded the reccomended java version, still no change. As a matter of fact I tried everything I saw that was applicable to my setup and nothing changed. Then I went to the sticky for people having issues trying to connect and having issues located here: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/connec...t-connect.html and tried the very first step, download gnutella.net and delete the old file and put the new file in my folder. As soon as I started limewire I was connected with 4 bars! Hope this helps! Rodge |
