lost!!!!

OK I'm new to all of this I currently have vista home premium and I DL limewire 2 days ago and java I ran the LW for about a half hour I became frustrated because I only have dial up available to me and it is so slow I shut the program down and now when I try to connect it say's that LW is currently connecting and I wont recieve any serch results untill I am fully connected. I tried to finish the songs I was downloading the day before but it said waiting for stable connection. I have tried many of the suggestions posted here and nothing seems to help. Any suggestions? HELP please

Everybody has to wait until you are fully connected to the network, otherwise, how do you expect to get any results without a working internet signal, magic?

Also, if you cant download, it may be that other peers have unstable (exactly what LW suggests)
or there are not many copies of that file floating around...

I would think you chose a file with few distributers... (# next to quality)

Thank you for the info, but LW never connects. I am fully connected to the internet however LW never seems to be able to fully connect. I guess I might be hoping for magic. I had no problems connecting the first time I used LW, now no matter how long I wait for it to connect it never does. I will try the peer guardian 2. Thank you. Do you have a clue how long it might take for LW to connect? Do you think this could be because I have dial up?

I looked up the peer guardian 2 and it says at this time it does not support vista, but they are working on it. Once againe no luck. BUt thank you for the suggestion.

I'd say about no more than 15 seconds...
If it doesn't go to file > disconect & connect again (assuming you already connected)

Do you have anti-virus?
I had windows antivirus and McAfee,
you might want to to allow limewire (mcafee) and disable windows anti-virus. (windows anti-virus is useless anyways...)

I have the AVG I had norton but I got rid of it. I got limewire to connect once more but the download was so slow, once I got the song downloaded I shut it down and once againe it never seems to connect. Oh well I give up on it. I have come to the conclusion that untill they can reach me with something more than dial up downloading just isn't worth it. WAY TO SLOW!!!
Thank you for your help though if per chance I ever get it to connect againe I might give it another shot.
