A lot of people have uninstalled McAfee (or parts of) because of this problem.

But this poster found a solution & is now able to run LW with McAfee
A fix for Visat/Limewire

Don't forget to use the forum search to look through old threads...most questions have been answered before

So I have to go to one of those chat things? Am I going to need to pay money? Hmmmm.....if extra info would help:

Limewire starts up correctly and everything works fine but it remains indefinitely at one red bar.

The error message it displays is this:Your machine does not appear to have an active internet connection or is behind a firewall. Limewire will continue to try to connect you to the network until you click disconnect in the file menu.

I find this impossible though as my internet IS working, and Limewire is listed in my program permissions as FULL ACCESS.

I removed the firewall and it worked for about 30 minutes and then the connection went dead and it went back to displying the same error message that it was displaying before.

Sorry about all of the repeated posting but I have ruled out the possibility of the problem being my firewall because I uninstalled my MacAfee firewall and then turned off the windows firewall as well but the message still apeared. So I've decided that god just doesn't want me to use Limewire anymore...I went through all the links that everyone suggested and it still isn't working>>>

SOMEONE HELP ME PLEASE!!!!
