I just got a new computer with windows vista, I've gone through all the troubleshooting pages for connecting. I've tried limewire 4.12.11 and limewire beta, done the firewall/ opening ports.. everything. When I open limewire, it'll connect for about 1 min (at 3 bars), but in the process, it will timeout any browsers open and disable them from connecting to any page for about 3 minutes. Then it will kill the connection for itself and have no bars. Ive called my isp and did the "ping" deal, i get replies from all pages, but is unable to function with limewire running. I need help =(

I am having the EXACT same problem, with windows vista.

It also does the same thing to me with Frostwire.

I have checked all firewalls and turned them off, turned all security settings to the lowest... yet it still does this to me... Does anyone have any answers?

I had a similar problem, but mine was resolved by closing it out and opening it back up 3 or 4 times. Every time I did that, it seemed to grab more bars, until I got the "turbo" back (pro) - now when I start it, it goes to turbo right away...hope this helps......
'Pete

No, didn't change anything either, just kept exiting out and restarting the program, like Vista had to learn it or sumthin.....

Here is my system info:

Windows Vista Home Premium 32 bit
McAfee & Windows firewalls (both completely turned off, as well as windows defender)
4 gigs of ram, DDR2
250 gig HD space
Verizon DSL (have another computer with XP on same network, can connect to limewire just fine)
Connecting from home

Slevin Kelevra have you got Java 1.6 ????

Have a look at this thread and give McAfee a call...

Also have you ever had to port forward your router for your XP system, to allow LW to work ???

Can you supply your modem/router info please....

I actually just read the post about McAfee and tried that... and unbelievably, it WORKED!

I just uninstalled the entire thing.... and now it seems to work just fine.
