okay, when i get to the point of downloading the online installer, it starts out fine then it just stops downloading.. it says to restart the download if no progress for several mins. so i do and it happens everytime. please help. i want to install it so bad but for some reason it dont work. i have used limewire on other computers just fine

Use the offline installer(second one down)http://www.limewire.com/english/content/download.shtml.

For vista you need java 6 jre(use the offline installer): http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index.jsp

thanks bro.im downloading it now as we speak, i saw in another forum that i needed java.so i downloaded it. but when i installed it, my pc said i had already a java thing so i didnt install it. but now i will and i will run it.

okay i did that. but it still dont work. and when limewire is running it dont let me connect to the internet. i dont know what it could be, i never had this problem with xp

okay . i have windows vista. when i download limewire, it does not get any results when i search for songs. nothing comes up. so i downloaded java6. then re installed it. still does the same thing. i have mcafe virus protection. i dont know what else. i did that test thing and it says it worked.

Lots of people have had trouble with McAfee.
A lot of people have uninstalled McAfee (or parts of).

See if that helps. If not, you might need to configure your modem/router. In that case, we'd need the details.
Have a look through those threads first though, see if McAfee's your problem
