Modem & router brand name & model numbers? Belkin 7231-4 7. Where are you trying to connect from (house, appartment complex, school, student accomodation, work, etc.)? House 8. What version of LimeWire (LW) & Java do you have? (Go to LW's menu Help>About LW...) Will show both LW & Java version. 4.12.11 1.6.0 9. Who is your ISP provider (Internet Service Provider)? SBC 10. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there? Worked 11. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? If yes, please give details of set up. 12. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user. experienced 13. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface? YES I have forwarded ports for the router. Gotten rid of McAfee, changed the ports. It stays at connecting and then says needs more sources. I have tried numerous different files all with the same result. A bit ridiculous really. I am losing hope here. Any suggestions. |

![]() So it's just the connection for downloads that's the problem...your LW's connected to the network ok??? If you're sure that it's not fake files that you're seeing Fake files showing up in search results and if absolutely everything you try to download gives you the connecting/need more sources message, delete your preferences folder when LW's properly closed. See point 3 below (also point 2 if you've used much older versions of LW in the past). Fixes for LimeWire This will kill all of your settings within options, you'll have to go back through later & reset things to the way you like them. You'll have to show hidden files & folders to see that preferences folder, if you're not sure of how to do that within Vista, check out this sticky. LimeWire Pref Folder in Vista When you set up port forwarding, did you make sure to set up a static IP address first? Also remember that port forwarded within the router, LW's listening port & port within the 'manual port forward' box must all be the same number. |
