![]() I'm having trouble connecting with Vista, and I've already read all the posts here. First, let me give you my information: 1. OS version? Vista Ultimate completely updated 2. What firewalls you have? Vista's only 3. How much ram? 2G 4. Hard Disk space available? 35G 5. Connection type? LAN broadband, DS3 pipe (I own the ISP) 6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers? Cisco 7206 wide open 7. Where are you trying to connect from? work, NC Telecom, my ISP 8. What version of LimeWire (LW) & Java do you have? LW 4.13.2.Pro, Java 1.6.0_01 9. Who is your ISP provider? NC Telecom (my company), we block nothing in our routers and have no packet shaping or other filtering active. 10. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there? IT WORKED! 11. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? If yes, please give details of set up. Several other PC in the office are on the LAN, at least one XP system is using LimeWire fine. 12. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user. New problem with experienced user on a new PC 13. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface? Yes, even if I disable the Windows firewall. I checked windows firewall and it has the LW access exception for both in and out. I did a manual install of JRE 6.1 as suggested. This Dell M2010 XPS laptop was delivered without any virus protection and I added AVG, so McAfee isn't an issue. Things that make you go HMMMMMMM..... any suggestions? |

![]() I google your Router and the info I found says that there is a Nat Firewall built into it...Have you disabled this feature?? If not you may have to Forward a Port for Limewire... Cisco 7206 VXR Router (7206VXR/NPE-G1) Specs - DealTime

![]() Thanks for the reply. I forgot to mention that the Cisco is not doing NAT, and that my machine has a real-world routable IP address. I also tried it on my home PC which is the same setup, but is behind a Cisco 1700 series router, which has minimal configuration and no NAT. The only routing in it is interface Serial0, ip unnumbered FastEthernet0. My home PC also has a routable IP of 38.116.129.243, but experiences the same problem. At home I disabled the Vista firewall and AVG (which doesn't have a firewall anyway) but the firewall icon still shows up, is that normal? Last edited by up10ad; May 1st, 2007 at 05:55 AM. ![]() No you shouldn't see a firewall there at all... This is a hard one.... You could try these fixes and see if they work at all... Try changing the listen Port number and tick the manual port box and enter 64049 into both and select apply....(or any number between 49152 up to 65535, but enter the same number into both) No luck there ??? Try uninstalling your Java from the add/remove programs and then re-install the JRE offline version....(4th one down) Java SE Downloads Then uninstall Limewire using the uninstaller which is found in start > all programs > limewire...then re-install it using the offline installer... http://www.limewire.com/english/cont...oadfree2.shtml If that does not help with your problem try deleting your preference folder... Fixes for Limewire when LW isn't operating as it should Still no luck ?? Try the Beta verion of Limewire... I hope one of these fixes works for you... ![]()
