Firewall Blocking Connection to LW, But no Firewalls Active

I see a lot of people having problems with LimeWire, and I am one of them. When I try to connect, it says it is encountering a firewall. I only have 2. Windows Firewall is always disabled, and my Norton Firewall is configured to allow LimeWire. I even tried disabling both, and LimeWire still will not connect stating that it detects a firewall.

I didn't have any problems until I got Windows Vista, but now I have to put up with this crap. Please help if you can.

Thanks :)

Firstly you will need to update to Java 6...
Uninstall your Java from the add/remove programs and then re-install the JRE offline version....(4th one down)
Java SE Downloads

Edit: wrong modem list I just entered...

I uninstalled all Java related programs, and installed the JRE 6.0 offline. I am still unable to connect. There is still a brick wall, and the connection bars is still stuck on first bar saying "You are currently connecting to the network", but it fails.

Try these instructions just to make sure your Norton is configured correctly...
Port Forwarding for the Norton Internet Security 2007

Sweet, that configuration difference worked wonders for my LimeWire, I am now strongly connected.

Thank you so much for your help!!!

I don't know what happened, but my LimeWire isn't working again. I haven't changed anything. Is there anything else I can do?

Try this fix and see if it helps...

Fixes for Limewire when LW isn't operating as it should

Also Roadrunner have been mentioned in these forums for shaping p2p...Maybe they do this at particular times of the day...You could ring them and see what their policy is...;)
