Limewire has to be installed by an Administrator...If your Dad won't let you have that privilege ask him to create you a short cut for your account... Could you also supply these details please... http://www.gnutellaforums.com/connec...-you-post.html |
Ya that hasnt helped it sitll will only work once after being installed and never again what do i do? |
Hmmm... You started this thread with the title, "ahhh vista"... You have told us a lot about hardware and absolutely nada about your Operating System software ! Is it Vista ? If so, get rid of the Vista as your absolute number 1 priority. Then carry on with installing and enjoying LimeWire, OK ? You 99% sure are suffering, as are millions of others, from the gobsh ite 'protection' features of Vista. (Which is an interesting concept, 'protection' I mean, as Vista is probably the world's greatest bit of spyware.) |
I am not getting rid of Vista just because of limewir it is an excellent operating system and this limewire problem is the only one i have faced! Ohh and computers need Operating systems so im told |
Superdoor I am not a Vista user and I will not say what you should or should not use but it occurs to me that an O/S, any O/S for that matter, is only there to convey instructions from your applications to your PC. In other words, the apps are important and the O/S is just there to make sure that nothing prevents the application from carrying out its legitimate task. I think that for marketing purposes MS has made the O/S, i.e. latest version of windows, all important in most peoples minds when in fact it is a “means to and end”, not the “be all and end all”. Saying all that, we have to accept that we now live in a world dominated by adverts, marketing and hype it’s just a pity that things like “facts” and “truth” gets lost along the way. UK Bob |
Im not going to get into an arguement over the internet(the most pointless thing since unsliced bread) but i still need something to run my computer! :D And i still need a way to use limewire without uninstalling Vista! (My dad the dinosaur says he worked with DOS and he can assure you operating systems do make a difference! :) ) |
Superdoor You know, I always thought that the internet was only second to the wheel as the best thing ever invented. For example, without the internet there would be no cheap or reasonable way we could communicate with this forum. Plus, with all the information readily available on the internet it makes it more difficult for politicians (and their media friends) to lie to us, though some of them still try to. And, like your dinosaur Dad, I too have worked with DOS and I do understand that having an O/S that takes care of all the hard things does make a difference but it is still the application that makes a PC worth having. Anyway now to your problem, ask your Dad to install a second hard drive in your PC (a "D" drive), I would now suggest that your Dad makes your machine a dual boot machine with Vista on the "C" drive and XP in the "D". Install LW under XP on the "D" drive, this should now sort your problem out. UK Bob |
ummm....this probably won't work...you pretty much have to install the oldest OS first, then the newer one second...soooo, no matter what drive the OS's reside on (that makes no difference), you will need to wipe drives, install XP first, then install Vista... |
Peerless I must admit, I did not realise it mattered which O/S was installed first only that certain procedures were followed. UK Bob |
