Thumbs down firewall problems

i just downloaded Limewire, and I'v been fooling around with it for a few hours now, looking at various help forums trying to figure out what is wrong with it. it wont connect, iv turned off all my firewalls but the brick wall is still in front of the globe when i open up limewire. I am at my wits end. I answered the questions to the best of my ability but I am starting to lose hope! Can someone please help?


1. OS version? Windows Vista Home Premium
2. What firewalls you have? just the one that comes with vista
3. How much ram? 1024 mb
4. Hard Disk space available? 229 gb
5. Connection type? dialup
6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers? ?
7. Where are you trying to connect from (house, appartment complex, school, student accomodation, work, etc.)? home
8. What version of LimeWire (LW) & Java do you have? (Go to LW's menu Help>About LW...) 4.12.6 and 1.6.0_01
9. Who is your ISP (Internet Service Provider)? Primus
10. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there? my test worked
11. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? If yes, please give details of set up. No
12. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user? new problem on new computer with an experienced user
13. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface? yes
14. For those using a modem/router, how is your modem/router set up...are you port forwarding or is UPnP enabled? not sure
15. What security programs are you using (antivirus etc)? just the windows live one care program that comes with vista...

Try uninstalling your Java from the add/remove programs and then re-install the JRE 5.11 offline version....
Archive: Download Java 2 Platform Standard Edition (J2SE) 5.0 Update 11

If that does not help with your problem try deleting your preference folder...
Fixes for Limewire when LW isn't operating as it should

Try going to Tools > Options > Advanced > Firewall and select the manual port forward box and enter 64049 and then put that same number into the listen port box and select apply...
Shut Limewire down and the re-start and see what happens....
