LimeWire currently connecting to the network Help!!! I am new to LimeWire and when I search for music I get an error message saying "LimeWire is currently connecting to the network. Your search may not return many results until you are fully connected". Can anyone please explain what this means. My operating system is Vista and I have installed the latest versions of LimeWire and Java. I have also ensured that LimeWire is allowed in my Norton control settings. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks |

It just means that something is stopping your LW from connecting...could be a software firewall, firewall within a router, ISP or even a Java version. Please give us your details System details - help us to help you (click here) |

Connection problems - reply 1. OS version? Vista 2. What firewalls you have? Norton 3. How much ram? enough 4. Hard Disk space available? enough 5. Connection type? broadband 6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers? Thomson Speedtouch 510 V6 7. Where are you trying to connect from: Home 8. What version of LimeWire (LW) 4.12.11 & Java do you have? Standard Edition 6. 9. Who is your ISP (Internet Service Provider)? Tiscali 10. Do this simple test for us. It works. 11.Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? No 12. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user. 1st try 13. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface? Yes 14. For those using a modem/router, how is your modem/router set up...are you port forwarding or is UPnP enabled? UPnp enabled I think - I have added the port number into Norton advanced settings and allowed LimeWire in the program control section. 15. What security programs are you using (antivirus etc)? Full Norton 2007 16. What country are you living in? UK Just as a matter of interest when I logged onto LimeWire this morning I had full connection and was able to search OK. I have since lost this and now have one bar coloured green. Hope this helps. |

Make sure that your Norton firewall's configured to allow LW. PortForward.com - Free Help Setting up Your Router or Firewall Tiscali might be part of the problem!! Lots of customers have had connection problems. Have a read of these threads. You could try changing ports...in LW tools > options > advanced > firewall config. Change LW's listening port to 64049 (or something in the range of 49152 - 65535) > Apply > ok. I have found a solution to getting Limewire to work with Tiscali Tiscali blocking Limewire can't connect between 5pm-11pm Tiscali & Limewire Connection Problem - with Tiscali.co.uk Try port forwarding for your router, the instructions are here. Don't forget to set up a static IP address first. LW's listening port, port in the 'manual port forward' box & port forwarded within a router must all be the same number Port Forwarding for the Thomson/Alcatel SpeedTouch 510 |
