Angry LimeWire does not load; stops at 12%; cannot close.

Although only recently downloaded/installed, program has functioned normally, and in particular when click shortcut icon on desktop.

Not any more as per Title above! Repeatedly freezes at 12%.
Checked Ctrl/Alt/Delete and myustery deepened: showed no programs running. But I assume that's because it hasn't gone to 100%.

Additional annoyance is the LimeWire box mid-screen cannot be removed short of shutdown.

Have not the least idea of cause/cure.
Hopefully one of you more experienced and tech saavy members can get me out of this quagmire.

Sincerely, RO

Try deleting your preference folder....
Fixes for Limewire when LW isn't operating as it should

If that does not work try uninstalling your Java from the add/remove programs and then re-install the JRE 5.11 offline version....
Archive: Download Java 2 Platform Standard Edition (J2SE) 5.0 Update 11

Exclamation LW frozen at 12% & Cannot remove box except by shutdown

Fair Dinkum, Aussie! Appreciate prompt reply. Here's results:

1. When accessed file as shown in email notice, there it was: CLOSED.
With Search did find it, but curious situation.

2. FIX file marked CLOSED Found Preferences:
Excuse inexperience, but only Preferences I know are those shown at IE7pro: General Settings 2 checked, one of which is crash recovery.
Tap Settings all 7 checked. Apprehensive as to unchecking, and need confirm this is the program to which you were referring.
If not, please include exact path to get to it.

3. Reference Java which you suggest uninstalling, etc.
If need be, so be it, but FYI , here's what I have : JAVA RUNTIME ENVIRONMENT 6 & JAVA ENVIRONMENT update 1.
As different than what you named, further amplification needed.

For info, my Live Wire (free) is v4.12.8.

Cordially,

There have been a few issues with the JRE 6.1 with some limewire users and rolling back to the JRE 5.11 can be the answer...
I'm not sure what you mean by the folder being closed you need to follow the instructions in the link I provided and fine the LimeWire folder and if you have it the .limewire folder and delete them...

Red face LW frozen at 12% loaded/deleting its box from screen only by nshutdown

Hi Wondering Why (me too):

CLOSED was what appeared when I accessed the Gnutellaforums advice of a reply to my problem. Could not understand referring me to a reply when thread marked closed.

You made no mention of my assumption re Preferences. Is it correct? Is there another location I should check?

As soon as that is clarified I u8nderstand I shoiuld remove the Java Environmental programs and substitute the earlier version. My uncertainty there is that whether the desired substitution should be made in addition to rather than in place of what I have. Reason I ask is because of the descriptive differences in the titles.

Cordially, RO

The link I gave to you are the instructions to deleting limewires preference folders which are called LimeWire and .limewire...It doesn't matter that the thread is closed, it's closed for a reason, so no-one can post endless problems onto a sticky...

The preference folders you are referring to have nothing to do with limewire so leave them alone...

With your Java the idea of rolling back to 5.11 is that there have been problems in the 6.1 with some users...Having both on your computer is of no help as Limewire will still continue to use the 6.1 version, hence uninstalling it...
