Limewire will search for a connection to get through the firewall. On the bottom the quality of connection to LW is low all the bars are red and it has the blue globe with a wall blocking. I have gone into Mccafee and have disabled the firewall there and I have done it also turned firewall of in Windows. I still can not get that blocked globe to be unblocked and the connection is still at nothing. I always have the internet connected when I am doing this and nothing seems to work. Please help!

A couple of things that may be causing this..
McAfee is one of them, disabling the firewall doesn't actually help with limewire and Vista...
McAfee Tech support have just recently posted a solution to the problem...

Try this solution and see if it helps you...If it doesn't post back and let us know...

Also you could have a Nat Firewall within your router, could you supply the model number for your Netgear so I can give you the instructions on Port Forwarding...

Connection Problem - Firewall

I'm in desperate need of help - Limewire is being blocked by some firewall which I assume is my Netgear router since that's when my problem began. I have instructions for port forwarding for my Netgear WPN824 router but I don't know how to find the IP address of my router, not to mention that it seems a bit too complicated to me.
I would greatly appreciate any help anyone can give me because this is driving me crazy. Thanks
