These off-topic posts may impede the normal operation of the forum. Edit posts. Moderators will edit posts that are offensive or break any of the House Rules. Delete posts. Posts that cannot be edited to comply with the House Rules will be deleted. Restrict members. This is one of the last punishments before a member is banned. Restrictions may include placing all new posts in a moderation queue or temporarily banning the offender. Ban members. The most severe punishment. Three or more moderators or administrators must agree to the ban for this action to occur. Banning is reserved for very severe offenses and members who, after many warnings, fail to comply with the House Rules. Banning is permanent. Bans cannot be removed by the moderators and probably won't be removed by the administration. The Rules 1. Warez, copyright violation, or any other illegal activity may NOT be linked or expressed in any form. Topics discussing techniques for violating these laws and messages containing locations of web sites or other servers hosting illegal content will be silently removed. Multiple offenses will result in consequences. File names are not required to discuss your issues. If filenames are copyright then do not belong on these forums & will be edited out or post removed. If your post is placed in the wrong forum it will be moved by a moderator. There are specific Gnutella Client sections for LimeWire, Phex, FrostWire, BearShare, Gnucleus, Morpheus, and many more. Please choose the correct section for your problem. 7. If you see a post in the wrong forum or in violation of the House Rules, please contact a moderator via Private Message or the "Report this post to a moderator" link at the bottom of every post. Please do not respond directly to the member - a moderator will do what is required. 8. Any impersonation of a forum member in any mode of communication is strictly prohibited and will result in banning. 9. Multiple copies of the same post will not be tolerated. Post your question, comment, or complaint only once. There is no need to express yourself more than once. Duplicate posts will be deleted with little or no warning. Keep in mind a forum censor may temporarily automatically hold up your post, if you do not see your post, do not post again, it will be dealt with by a moderator within a reasonable time. Authors of multiple copies of same post may be dealt with by moderators within their discrete judgment at the time which may result in warning or infraction points, depending on severity as adjudged by the moderators online. 10. Posts should have descriptive topics. Vague titles such as "Help!", "Why?", and the like may not get enough attention to the contents. 11. Do not divulge anyone's personal information in the forum, not even your own. This includes e-mail addresses, IP addresses, age, house address, and any other distinguishing information. Don´t use eMail addresses in your nick. Reiterating, do not post your email address in posts. This is for your own protection. 12. Signatures may be used as long as they are not offensive or sexually explicit or used for commercial advertising. Commercial weblinks cannot be used under any circumstances and will result in an immediate ban. 13. Dual accounts are not allowed. Cannot explain this more simply. Attempts to set up dual accounts will most likely result in a banning of all forum accounts. 14. Video links may only be posted after you have a tally of two forum posts. Video link posting with less than a 2 post tally are considered as spam. Video link posting with less than a 2 post tally are considered as spam. 15. Failure to show that you have read the forum rules may result in forum rules breach infraction points or warnings awarded against you which may later total up to an automatic temporary or permanent ban. Supplying system details is a prerequisite in most cases, particularly with connection or installation issues. Violation of any of these rules will bring consequences, determined on a case-by-case basis. Thank You! Thanks for taking the time to read these forum guidelines. LimeWire will not connect for me on Vista 1. OS Version = Windows Vista Home Premium 2. Firewall = ZoneAlarm Basic (Windows Firewall is disabled) 3. RAM = 1014MB 4. Hard disk free = 29.2GB free 5. Connection type = Broadband 6. Modem/router = NetGear DG834G v2 7. Connecting from home 8. LimeWire = v4.12.15, Java = v6 9. ISP = Tiscali 10. The page said 'Your test worked!' 11. Connection is shared by 2 other computers (but neither of which has been turned on and in use since the problem started). One PC is connected directly to the router, the other PC is wireless. My laptop is wireless that I’m trying to use LimeWire with. 12. Used LimeWire for years but on a laptop with XP. Problem started when I got a new laptop with Vista on. 13. Yes I see a brick wall 14. Not sure because I have just moved back to my dad's home who set it up and he's not available to ask. Is there a way I can find this out? I have access to the computer the router is connected to. 15. I'm using AVG Free Edition 16. UK My problem I just got a new laptop with Windows Vista on and I downloaded LimeWire onto it but it does not connect and sits with just one green bar as long as it’s opened. I have no problems using LimeWire on my old laptop which has Windows XP Professional, or on any of the other PCs using the same connection which are also using XP. I must have installed, uninstalled and reinstalled it and restarted my laptop close to 10 times in the hope it’d work, and it didn’t. So I checked that my ZA firewall wasn’t blocking it, and it didn’t seem to be because I had let it allow LimeWire. But still I thought that I’d disabled it to see if that helped but it didn’t. Nonetheless under someone else’s advice I removed ZA to see if it would work then and still nothing. I have tried installing and using the Java v5 and removing v6, but that made no difference and it still won’t connect. and finally I have just tried deleting the preference folder with no avail. Apologies if I’m the hundredth person with the same problem but I’m at the end of my tether now because I have been on at it hours over several days trying to solve it, and I was wondering if I have missed something somewhere. So can anyone please help me resolve the problem? Or should I just accept I can’t use LimeWire anymore and find something else? If so, what other programs would people recommend? I already tried FrostWire on someone’s recommendation but same problems as above! Many thanks, hope someone can help me figure this out. Senorita |

Your Router has a Nat Firewall which is more than likely stopping your connection...You will have to Port Forward to allow limewire through... These are your instructions Port Forwarding for the Netgear DG834G Also Tiscali are known for blocking p2p bandwidth during peak hours... ::. Kitz - ISP Caps, FUPs and Prices .::

OK thanks I will try that this afternoon. But I was just wondering how is the firewall in the router the problem only for my laptop with Vista on it and not the other one with XP, which works fine at home with the same set up? I'll let you know how I get on. Senorita |

OK so I've tried what was suggested above and still nothing has changed and I'm experiencing the same probs even with the latest version of LW. Can it possibly be anything else or have I tried everything that anyone can think of? Im so glad my old laptop lets it connect but I don't really want to be using two laptops all the time. I welcome any suggestions! thanks. Senorita |
