PSYS4LIFE is flying high
Default New Laptop Configuration... removing firewall icon...?

1. OS version? **WINDOWS VISTA **
2. What firewalls you have? **WINDOWS VISTA FIREWALL**
3. How much ram? **2 GB**
4. Hard Disk space available? **240GB**
5. Connection type? **CABLE MODEM **
6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers? **LINKSYS WRT54G**
7. Where are you trying to connect from? **HOME**
8. What version of LimeWire (LW) & Java do you have? 4.14.8PRO * 1.6.X
9. Who is your ISP? **TIME WARNER CABLE/ROADRUNNER**
10. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there? **IT SAYS YOUR TEST WORKED!**
11. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? If yes, please give details of set up. **THERE IS A LAPTOP USED ON THE MAIN LEVEL OF THE HOME WITH LIMEWIRE 4.14.7... LAPTOP IS SHARING LINKSYS WIRELESS ROUTER ON PORT 6346 WITHOUT ANY PROBLEMS WHATSOEVER. FIREWALL ICON IS NOT DISPLAYED AND DOWNLOAD SPEEDS ARE VERY FAST.

14. For those using a modem/router, how is your modem/router set up...are you port forwarding or is UPnP enabled? **PORT FORWARDING**

16. What country are you living in? Sometimes there are ISPs with the same name in more than one country (eg Clearwire in the USA & also in Ireland). UNITED STATES

My question is.... I purchased another laptop yesterday. HP DV9000 series with Windows Vista. The laptop on the main level of the home has Limewire 4.14.7 and is using the Linksys WRT54G without any problems and blazing fast download speed. No brick wall icon in front of the globe.

I am needing assistance with configuring this new laptop to be used on the second level of my home. I have LimewirePRO 4.14.8 installed and I have brick wall in front of the globe preventing me from getting good download speeds. How do I remove this icon and what do I need to do to share the same wireless router being used for my laptop downstairs. I have port forwarding configured for limewire on the laptop downstairs using port 6346. Can I use the same port for the laptop upstairs? Or do I setforth a different port? I tried both ways with no success. I tried it with the same port 6346 and a new port 8788. I don't really know what else I need to do....??

Can anyone offer any assistance....?? Let me know if there's any other information I might be able to lend.... thanks in advance for any help...?

You'll need to set up a different static IP address for each new computer that you want to port forward.
PortForward.com - Free Help Setting up Your Router or Firewall

So go ahead & do that for the new laptop, then set up your port fowarding & use a different port to the one the original computer's using (port 64049 is a good one to try, or something in the range of 49152 - 65535).
Port Forwarding for the Linksys WRT54G

Make sure that LW's listening port, port in the 'manual port forward' box & port forwarded within the router are all the same number

Even though you're seeing the firewall icon, is LW fully connected (no red connection bars) on the new computer?
