Limewire Connection Hi I am new to Limewire. I am having problems with connecting. I have been reading some of the posts, but they do not seem to be same problem. Following on from some threads I need to let you know about my set-up - I am using a Hewlett Packard Pavilion Entertainment Laptop with Vista Home Premium. My limewire version is 4.14.7 and Jave 1.6.0-oem. I click on the limewire icon and it goes through until I get the main screen, and the message at the top says enabling, but that is as far as I get, it can sit for hours like that, doesn't freeze out my laptop can use other programmes, but limewire still doesn't enable. I need an idiots guide to what to do, no technical jargon please. Hoping someone can help. Thanks in advance. |

New User Connection Problems Hi I am a new user to limewire and this site. I have downloaded limewire and the version is 4.14.7 the Java is 1.6.0-oem. I am using a Hewlett Packard Pavilion Entertainment laptop with Vista Home Premium. My broadband is Wireless Talk Talk with Netgear router. I also have ZoneAlarm Internet Security. I have enabled access to allow limewire and firefox. When I click on icon limewire loads, then sits saying enabling. This can go on for hours, but does not connect. The blocks in bottom corner are red, there is a brickwall in front of globe that says limewire detects firewall. Also says sharing 1 file. This is as technical as I get. It does not freeze the laptop in anyway and I can use other programes and internet whilst it sits there saying enabling. Does anyone have an idiots guide with no real techi jargon, just straitforward steps to try. Many thanks in advance. Sorry if you see this rmessage epeated, but posted a short while ago, it showed for a few seconds in the Connection problems screen then disappeared. Thread merged...contains some system details. OK a few things I see... ZoneAlarm has had some affect on connecting... This link will explain, follow the directions the user has posted... http://www.gnutellaforums.com/281366-post6.html Also if you are using ZoneAlarm Pro use these instructions to configure it correctly with Limewire... Port Forwarding for the Dlink DI-604 (Don't take any notice of the link title, it is for ZoneAlarm) Also your Netgear Router more than likely has a Nat Firewall within and will need to be Port Forwarded, so if you could supply the model number, I will be able to get the instructions for you... And last but not least, your ISP Talk Talk are not all that p2p user friendly... ** Must subscribe to £9.99 International package. Non LLU add extra £15. £35 for adsl service only. 8Mb only provided on LLU exchanges otherwise you will get 2Mb QoS/Throttled/port blocking *advertise unlimited but have cut their customers off without warning. They haven't defined any limits but their T+C's 4.5 state:-" we may change your Transmission Speed or manage your use of our Broadband Service as we see fit in the circumstances. Heavy users are throttled
