Unhappy Another newb with connection issues

Hello all. I'm about to throw this pc out the window. I've got a terrible headache now. Okay I have read many of the posts here and I still have no success with Limewire. I have tried EVERYTHING from manually setting a port and configuring my router to disabling/unistalling my firewall and antivirus and still no joy. Even with the settings in my firewall to allow Limewire to connect didn't work. I've also tried the latest version and an old version of Java. I'll provide the requested info that's needed for assistance.

1. OS version? Vista Ultimate with all updates
2. What firewalls you have? Zone Alarm
3. How much ram? 2 gb
4. Hard Disk space available? 216gb free
5. Connection type? High speed cable
6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers? Linksys WRT54G
7. Where are you trying to connect from? HOME
8. What version of LimeWire (LW) & Java do you have? LimeWire Pro 4.14.8 and Java 1.5.0_12
9. Who is your ISP (Internet Service Provider)? Comcast
10. Test DOES work
11. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? Yes - I have another desktop and laptop that also connect to the internet through the wireless router and both run Limewire without any problems.
12. This a new problem with an experienced user.
13. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface? Yes
14. For those using a modem/router, how is your modem/router set up...are you port forwarding or is UPnP enabled? Yes
15. What security programs are you using (antivirus etc)? I'm using ZoneAlarm and Avast antivirus.
16. What country are you living in? U.S.

If more is needed I can provide it. I'm somewhat computer savvy but I can't figure this one out.

Thanks,
Wy

Uninstall LW & ZA (don't uninstall LW via add/remove programs, go start > all progs > LW & use the uninstall option from there).
Now, reinstall LW. Once that's installed, reinstall ZA. Reinstalling LW before ZA has been a fix for a few people

If that doesn't help, try this version of Java. Download the JRE offline installer & remove any other Java versions before you install this one.
Archive: Download Java 2 Platform Standard Edition (J2SE) 5.0 Update 11

When you set up port forwarding, did you set up a static IP address first? You'll need to, or port forwarding won't work. Did you use these instructions?
Port Forwarding for the Linksys WRT54G
LW's listening port, port in the 'manual port forward' box & port forwarded within the router should all be the same number.

Hi Birdy -
Thanks for your reply. I'll try your suggestion in the morning as I've shut down the Vista machine. However, those are the exact instructions I used to set up port forwarding. The program(LW) froze on all occasions when I tried to change the port to another number besides 6346. The changes in the Linksys setup were fine. I also downloaded the offline version 5 for Java and still no go.

Hi Birdy - I think your suggestion did work. However, I've run into another issue. After I exited Limewire, the task manager still shows the program open (see pic). You'll noticed that the Limewire icon is not in the system tray. I'm not sure why this is happening but I think it might have something to do with ZoneAlarm.

Hi Wy,

I only used ZA for a couple of days but never ran into this problem
In LW tools > options > system tray. Check the radio button to shut down immediately....any difference?

Hi Birdy - no sir, that doesn't make a difference with that option checked. :-(
