It's a bad idea to run more than 1 software firewall. Turn off the Windows firewall...it'll conflict with Norton.

Try removing all of Norton's LW rules & then reconfigure the firewall to allow LW.

Lots of people have had problems when using that latest Java update, try this version instead. Download the JRE offline installer & remove any other Java versions before you install this one.

Is the router in another room in the house? Even if your connection's wireless but there could still be a firewall within the router that's effecting LW. So we'll need the brand & model.

I didnt have the XP firewall on-must have turned it off forgotten about it!!
Tried changing the settings under firewall configuration in LW for the listening ports and the other one but LW froze every time i tried to change the listening port (the one about P2P sharing was ok)
Tried deleting my Java and installing the new one but still no luck!!
Spoke to my ISP and he said that there may be a SYSCO router???
Any more ideas??

Try deleting LW's preferences folder when LW's properly closed. See point 3 here & also point 2 if you've used older versions of LW in the past (there could be a folder in either location).
Fixes for LimeWire
This will kill all of your settings within options, you'll have to go back through afterwards & reset things. If you're not sure of your settings, go through LW's tools > options & write them all down, so that you can reset things later.
LimeWire Pref Folder in Vista

Did you remove all other Java versions before installing 1.5.0_11?

A couple of people have had success after uninstalling both LW & Norton, then reinstalling LW & last of all reinstalling Norton (this is a fix for problems with ZoneAlarm but it's also worked for Norton).

Are you connecting from a house? Can you check if there's a router in another room?
