Default New laptop and can't connect

Hello all. I recently got a new Gateway and am using the same router and same Zone Alarm firewall as I was using with my old Dell. The only difference (that my extremely amateur eyes can tell) is that the Gateway is Vista and the Dell was XP. Anyhow, it never connects more than a single bar and I'm at the end of my rope here. Hopefully you guys can help me. Here are my specs:

1. Windows Vista
2. Zone Alarm
3. 2 GB of RAM
4. 101 GB of free hard drive
5. DSL connection
6. Modem is a Westell 2200 and router is Belkin Wireless G Plus Router model F5D7321-4
7. Trying to connect from my house although I have tried from apartments, hotels, etc. Can't connect anywhere.
8. Limewire version is 4.14.8 and Java is 1.6.0_02
9. Bellsouth
10. The test worked.
11. I am connecting wirelessly with a laptop and a desktop is connected by cable to the router
12. I used Limewire extensively with my previous laptop and the desktop works fine as well.
13. There is a brick wall in limewire
14. UPnP is enabled on the router.
15. I am using Zone Alarm for the firewall, as well as AVG antivirus, Ad-Aware, Spyware Blaster, and Spybot Search and Destroy. All of these were on the old laptop that had no difficulties.
16. USA

I would greatly appreciate any help anyone can give me. Limewire has been given permission in Zone Alarm and it connects the first bar but never goes beyond that. Thanks in advance.

There seems to be a problem with these 3 not getting along. Vista + Zone Alarm + Limewire. Some people have had Luck with this Fix. See Link Below.

Try uninstalling both LW & ZA, then reinstall LW first. After that, reinstall ZA. This has worked for a few Vista users...see post #6 of this thread Can't connect using Vista.

Post back with your results please.

Well I uninstalled Limewire and Zone Alarm and then reinstalled Limewire. It connected fine and I downloaded a few things. I then reinstalled Zone Alarm and Limewire couldn't connect past the first bar. I had program control on for Zone Alarm so programs had to ask permission and I gave full permission to Limewire to access the internet.

Any ideas? Any other firewalls I should try? I'm certainly not married to Zone Alarm.

I think Free Firewalls for Vista may be a bit of a challenge, but below may give you a start

If you want to buy.

Personal Firewall Software Review 2007.

Well I downloaded the free version of PC Tools Firewalls Plus and it has no trouble at all with Limewire. Do you know anything about it? Is it significantly inferior to Zone Alarm? Comodo appears to be the best free one out there but its Vista version is not yet ready.

Remoc, you have been very helpful and I surely appreciate it. You, sir, are a gentleman. Thank you.
