SINCE LAST SUNDAY IVE BEEN HAVING A PROBLEM WITH LIMEWIRE...I OPEN IT AND IT CLOSES RIGHT AWAY WITH A MESSAGE SAYING " LIMEWIRE HAS STOPPED WORKING" " A PROBLEM CAUSED THE PROGRAM TO STOP WORKING CORRECTLY, WINDOWS WILL CLOSE THE PROGRAM & NOTIFY YOU OF A SOLUTION AVAILABLE" I TRIED UNINSTALLING IT LIKE 10 TIMES ALREADY. MY JAVA IS UP TO DATE AND IT STILL IS NOT WORKING...PLEASE HELP!!! I EVEN TRIED UNINSTALLING BOTH JAVA AND LIMEWIRE...

5. Connection type? (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.) DSL
6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers? CONEXANT D850 PCIV.92 MODEM
7. Where are you trying to connect from (house, appartment complex, school, student accomodation, work, etc.)? HOUSE
8. What version of LimeWire (LW) & Java do you have? (Go to LW's menu Help>About LW...) Will show both LW & Java version. 4.14.10 BASIC- JAVA 6 2 AND 3 UPDATE
9. Who is your ISP (Internet Service Provider)? VERIZON DSL
10. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there? IT SAYS YOUR TEST WORKED
11. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? If yes, please give details of set up. NOT THAT I KNOW OF HOW WOULD I KNOW THIS?
12. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user. NEW PROBLEM

14. For those using a modem/router, how is your modem/router set up...are you port forwarding or is UPnP enabled? PORT FOWARDING
15. What security programs are you using (antivirus etc)? Some people might not be aware that their security suite includes a firewall. MCAFEE
16. What country are you living in? Sometimes there are ISPs with the same name in more than one country (eg Clearwire in the USA & also in Ireland). USA

Try removing Java 6 update 2. Just have the 1 Java version installed on your computer.

Next, delete LW's preferences folder when LW's properly closed. See the thread below for instructions...remember to show hidden files & folders first, or you won't be able to find the preferences folder

You could also try right clicking on LW's desktop icon > properties > compatibility & run in compatibility mode for XP (sorry if that's not exactly the way to get to change compatibility in Vista...I use XP. It should be similar, though).

Ok I Did That Now Its Telling Me It Connecting To The Network Lol And It Doesnt Connect....now What... Do I Do And Do I Hide The Folder I Unhide Before?
