Vista, McAfee slow connection...only one bar

Hi, I'm a toltal newbie to LW, and my knowledge of computers falls flat re-ports and such like....can ya help me out?? LW is running no erroe messages, only one bar though....here's the low down

• Windows Vista Home Basic
• McAfee and Windows protector firewalls
• 1 gig of ram
• About 20 gig of 80 gig HD space available
• Broadband connection
• Modem is NextNet, Wireless Inc. I have lost numbers
• Connecting from my home
• LW 4.14.10 Pro, Java 1.6.0_3(I installed that yesterday)
• My ISP is Clearwire – Ireland
• “My test Worked”…woohoo
• Not sharing with any other computers etc
• this is my first time
• There is a brick wall
• I honestly don’t have a clue about modem/router or UPnP
• I’m running McAfee, came with the laptop, and windows protector
• I’m living in Ireland

I’ve tried to set up the port to allow gnutella port 15596, I got that number from tools> options>advanced>firewall….whistling in the dark really!!!
