![]() I got a new HP laptop with vista and have been having so many compatabilty issues... please help bc i love using Limewire on my desktop. 1. Using Vista Home 2. Firewalls? Norton (off) Windows (off) Windows live one care (on) 3. 2GB RAM 4. 100 GB free space 5. Cable wireless connection 6. Modem Scientific Atlanta DPC2100R2/ Router Linksys WRT54G-TM 7. Trying to connect from home network 8. Limewire 4.15.0 Java 1.6.0 9. ISP? Roadrunner, Brighthouse networks 10. Yes it worked! 11. My laptop is connected to my desktop and is shared on the network 12. ![]() The WRT54G's were a lemon due to a major firmware problem which Linksys never bothered to fully repair. Two options ... one if get a 3rd party fix for the firmware which is NOT recommended for the technologically ignorant. Else, to at least port forward the device which will at least reduce the problems faced. For port forwarding, the first & most important step is setting up a static ip; Static ip for Vista (click blue link). Then the next step is setting up the router's NAT firewall rules: PortForward.com - Free Help Setting up Your Router or Firewall & find your model on the list.
