![]() I have used LimeWire successfully on same computer. Upgraded my model of 2Wire router (and service technician did work on my computer)--and upgraded LimeWire---now no connection. (ie stays on 'starting connection'.....no error messages received, no activity on the connections tab) Windows Firewall does allow LimeWire Program On Norton I have editing settings/web browser/Internet Worm protection and ensured LimeWire was added as allowed program I have also deactivated Norton to test whether or not this was causing the problem---still unable to connect wth Norton not active I then went to 'HomePortal' and checked Firewall settings I forced an IP based on the listening port....and since I don't know what I am doing I also forced it on 6346 with a separate name (i.e. I went into allow individual apps, then put in the port range (just used the actual listening port #) and did for both TCP and UDP. No impact I have invested way to much time trying to get a connection established, I need higher powers to suggest where there may be user error on my part. ![]() I appreciated the response and the outline of steps in the port forwarding site were straightforward. Unfortunately, after following the instructions to the letter, I am still stuck on the connecting stage. |

![]() Just curious, do we really pay our money to LimeWire and yet receive no support other than the kindness of other users of the Gnutella forum??? As an additional piece of information to my earlier post, I have another laptop in the house that is also running Limewire---successfully. Their version is 4.12.11 with Java level of 1.5.0-04. The Listen on port is 44687. My version that is not working is again 4.14.12 with Java 1.6.0-oem.....since all sw is the same (and I have disabled Norton and the Windows Firewall in an attempt to isolate problems), I can only assume the 2Wire router/firewall is not the problem since the one machine at the lower release level works fine. Any suggestions would be appreciated (and yes, I tried changing my listening port to be the same as the working machine). Thanks! |

![]() I think the culprit is the modem/router. I can't believe i paid for limewire pro without running the free version first to see if it would connect. Tomorrow I will try to use my old bellsouth modem with a lynksis router and maybe let you all know as soon as I can if that solved it. I did the port forwarding recommended and nothing works. I think lime wire with att's new 2wire networking modem is gay ![]() |

![]() Just recently changed over to dsl again from cable, and have the same exact 2Wire unit from BellSouth/AT&T. Having the same firewall problem, but got mine working from the PF.com doc Remoc linked to. I tend to forget about PF.com from time to time, it's been a huge help with xbox360, ps3 and pc dilemmas, thanks for the link Remoc, Rep up'd! Hopefully the OP has since gotten their problem resolved as well..if not, make sure that the manual port # and the listen on port # are the same, just for the sake of eliminating variables when setting the firewall rules on the 2Wire. Oh yeah, this is my first post on the boards, guess now I feel obligated to go introduce myself properly! ![]() |
