will there ever be a solution to the vista limewire problem?

Ok so I have read numerous forum posts and nothiing is working. I just bought a new compaq laptop with Vista on it. Since the firewall seems to be the issue I not only deleated norton internet security which came with it but also turned off the windows firewall. I reinstalled limewire and still nothing connects, just that one lit up bar that says limewire is connecting. I know it's not a router because my old laptop with XP has limewire and it works. is there a solution or is this just a lost cause?
