Whereabouts are you downloading LW from? Make sure that you're getting it from the official site Lime Wire » Official Website & Free Download, BitTorrent «

How are you uninstalling LW? I don't use Vista, but things should be pretty similar to XP: Don't uninstall from Add/Remove Programs (or Vista's equivalent)...the best way is to use the uninstaller associated with LW.
Start > All Programs > LimeWire > use the uninstall option there.

If you haven't been using the uninstaller, you might need to use your computer's search to look for all files & folders with limewire in the name & delete those. *Just make sure not to delete any folders containing saved or shared files...if you've changed saving or sharing locations from the default*

Once you've uninstalled, then reinstall from the official site & use the offline installer...when you click on the Windows platform, a dialog box will pop up. Cancel that & then use the option to download the offline installer.

If you keep on having the same problem, maybe it's a bug in the latest version? In that case, you could post in the Bugs & Beta Testing section at this other forum, where the developers might see your post.

This is the official site.
Lime Wire » Download LimeWire

And the attachment here shows the option to download the offline installer. When you're asked whether you want to save the file, the offline installer will show as LimeWireWin-full.exe (online installer shows as LimeWireWin.exe).
