Default Stopped working.... :-( (LW won't load)

Limewire suddenly stopped working.
I get the start screen, but it does not load.
probably a problem with java?

when I open Java from control panel I get:
java virtual machine launcher.... could not find main class.

Did a virus scan.
I reinstalled java (Java 6 upd 5) and Limewire but problem remains.
All other java applications seem to work, except Limewire.

Thanks for help.

I am having same problem on vista. Limewire was working, then suddenly stooped. It shows up, and then nothing.

Try to open java from control panel, I get message:
java virtual machine launcher
could not find the main class

Try updating your Java: Java SE Downloads
Download the JRE offline installer & remove any other Java versions before installing this one.

Do you have Alcohol software installed? If so, look here.
LW starts then close, log: resolve_virtual_call

If that doesn't help, delete LW's preferences folder when LW's properly closed.
This will change all of your settings within options, you'll have to go back through afterwards & reset things. If you're not sure of your settings, go through LW's tools > options & write them all down, so that you can reset things later.
Vista users: LimeWire Pref Folder in Vista

And if that doesn't help, right click on the LW icon > properties > compatibility. Try running in compatibility mode for XP.

Few more hints:
1) uninstalled LW
2) deleted appdata/roaming/folder
3) installed again
4) if I run it "normally", same problem: LW appears then closes
5) I set properties of LW.exe as Win2K compatibility
6) now it load to 12%, then get first screen with folder options
7) going to next screen, LW reports error in ntdll.dll and closes

I have no more more ideas on what to do.

Another hint:
1) I made a clean install of LW 4.12 (just an older one....)
2) it installs and starts OK
3) I can get to final LW working screen, there I get colour mismatch vista message and pop-up that prog is not installed correctly (usual vista warning)

So I really don't understand what's happening.
My LW (latest one) WAS working.
It stopped suddenly. Can it be related to latest vista patches???

it shouldn't be. I'm running Vista Ultimate on my new Toshiba Laptop and I have Limewire 4.16.6 installed and everything is running perfectly.
Have you altered the screen resolution or anything else in Vista that might have upset Maybe you could try installing the latest non-beta edition which is 4.16.6. Get it from the official LimeWire homepage and install it after you haveuninstalled the previous version (including going into your C:\ directory and deleting any LimeWire folder from there) A good idea is to read as many of the "sticky" posts as you possibly can.
Quite often people have found solutions to their problems somewhere in these posts.
Good Luck!
