![]() Sounds a lot like the movie files you downloaded are bogus or fake movie files. How do you know that these files are genuine? There is nothing wrong or different about Vista. I not long ago bought a new Toshiba laptop (top of the line) with Vista Ultimate and I couldn't be happier with the way it is running on my machine. You just have to make sure you've got a reputable antivirus application and make sure it keeps its virus definitions up to date and you shouldn't have that much trouble with Vista. Any operating system is only as good as the amoount of maintainence you put into it. If you go downloading movie files from here and there without being sure they are genuine is not Vista's fault. What else has happened that makes you feel so negative about Windows Vista? Incidentally what made you think that using Bold print would get you more notice than anybody else. You're no more special than any of the other people who post their problems here. What makes you think that using bold print makes you so special? |

![]() GeeeZeeee Robert. Didn't realize the bold was even on, but I'm an 'old' broad so didn't even notice. Sorry. Vista is giving me a hard time and I am not a rookie. I've been on puters for 20 years so I assure you, its not the operator. I find it just has a ton of Security against myself. It would be fine in a Network scenario, but I don't like it as a home user. Regardless, the movies I'm having trouble with are d/loaded in LimeWire so surfing isn't the problem with movies. I want to Play them in LW and can't get the program to default to to that no matter how many times I reset the Options. That is my question, how do I get around that? Can you help me or want to give me puter lessons? Thanks for reading my question. L. ![]() Sleepless: Fixed that bold post for you, even though how someone can accidentally make 4 different sentences bold by them selves goes beyond me. ![]() Vista gives everybody that expects to be in control of their own computer a hard time. My advice would be to go back to XP, alternatively look up XP Black on the web. It's made by some guys that got tired of all the new VISTA security issues. It is XP but has some of the more wanted VISTA features. I haven't tried it myself as I am quite happy with my XP Pro, but I have heard good things about it. |

![]() Sorry I was a bit gnarly with you Linda. I'll try and be more patient with new Vista users I don't see any of the problems other people are having with Vista (guess I'm just lucky) it works fine for me and I can find my way around the new layout and everything. My last computer was only a cheap clone with Windows 98 on it and I'm not having any problem using Vista Ultimate. So i can't for the life of me work out what is causing so many people grief with this new operating system. |

![]() Ok Robert, no problem. I am used WinXP Professional and when I bought my new computer it came with Vista Home Basic. I enjoy learning new things, but find this program very tiresome. I think it would be good for an office network system, but is to security crazy for a home system. I've learned my way around it, but like my LimeWire question, my fav progs don't operate the same and its frustrating. You have been lucky if you don't have problems with yours. Everyone I talk to has the same type of operation problems. I've blown it out and reloaded it twice since September. I think it is just to new and the bugs haven't been worked out yet. Given a choice, I would go back to XP Professional .... but alas...that was a pirate so its sits in my bedroom closet (bad me) gathering dust. Thanks for your help here Robert, I glad I finally found a good responsive site to help with bugs that are driving me nuts. I did what Sleepless said and now can watch music video and some of the movies in LW so that is a step in the right direction. You have a good day and I'm sure I'll be back here with questions soon. Thanks, Linda ![]() |
