The only thing I can suggest is for you to un-install the Java RTE and then re-install it from the beginning. If you've already done that and that didn't work, try un-installing both the Java RTE and your copy of LimeWire and re-installing them and see if that solves your problem.
Other people have had similar problems and they solved it by re-installing both applications at the same time.
If that doesn't work come back here and post another message explaining what you have done and hope that someone else with more experience can guide you to a solution.
Good Luck!

Maybe it has something to do with your registry, do you happen to have a backup copy of the registry ? If not, you can try running some cleaning programs to see if it detects by product registry entries. I suggest you use CCleaner. It's a freeware cleaning and registry repair program, just make sure you configure the files you want it to delete first. Hope you get this working.

A lot of people are having this problem

In windows explorer -- Goto start/search/files and folders/(make sure hidden files are included)/type limewire hit enter now delete any limewire files that are found -- download (CCleaner - Update) and run it -- this will get rid of some of the rubbish from your registry Now reinstall using the backup installer (click on link below in limewire links) Also check in add/remove to see that you only have 1 version of java installed -- if more than 1 delete the old version

Hiya, skyliner !

Hey, that won't delete stuff that's in use for whatever reason (and they are many !)
And there will very often be a need for a VERY CAREFUL cleanup in the Registry !

This seems to be the Limewire flavour of the day...

> If LimeWire Will Not Load

Thread title may confuse a few folks, but the straight-shooter stuff is there and apparently is fixing things for a lot of people... IF they follow instructions to the letter... Mind you, with the fools at LW blowing it bigger every day, there may need to be a bit more info about where it is now possible to download the install later version of LW. They certainly do not want to use the normal on-line install crap.

Hi Ursula -- it does stop it from popping up all the time as one user found out (startup error) -- I was going to wait to see what happened with dreams_gone_awry then if problems still remain get them to download and do a full scan with AVG -- also download crap cleaner to clean up their registry -- I dont like putting to many fixes in the one post as it just confuses people -- a lot of them aren't computer savy

I use Registry Mechanic from PC Tools - been using their stuff since 1984 !!!
Mind you, it's the ONLY product that they now offer that I will use... Spyware Doctor is a disastrous joke !

SUN do offer some nifty uninstaller packages...
Hey, you don't need to be the so-called geek to be smart enough to format and clean install the whole farm and circus every 6 months ! A lot of the members here would benefit enormously from doing so... It's only absolutely terrifying the first 3 or 4 times, right ?

and maybe seriously consider using a better p2p client that is stable and where the developers are not deaf and blind, hmmm ?
