I am surprised FrostWire also didn't connect for you. But you didn't supply your system details so difficult for us to see a potential trouble spot. And we don't know what you tried. |

Heyy, Is this what you wanted? I dont really know what most of it means but i tried 1. OS version? (eg: Windows 98) Windows Vista, I am the admin account. 2. What firewalls you have? 2; Norton and Windows (but windows has been turned off) 3. How much ram? Umm not sure but I think enough 4. Hard Disk space available? ^^ 5. Connection type? Wireless Broadband 6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers? Bigpond? 7. Where are you trying to connect from? Home 8. What version of Lime Wire (LW) & Java do you have? Lime wire 4.18.3 and Java 1.6.0_05 9. Who is your ISP (Internet Service Provider)? Telstra Bigpond 10. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there? Your test worked! 11. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? I am on a laptop connected through wireless, the other computer is also connected through wireless which is through a modem I think. I don’t know what p2p is or how to find out/change. 12. Is this your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user. 1st try 13. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface? Yes 14. For those using a modem/router, how is your modem/router set up...are you port forwarding or is UPnP enabled? Umm connected to phone line then Netgear is used to one computer and my computer (which I am using) has its own wireless port built in. I don’t know what anything else means.. 15. What security programs are you using (antivirus etc)? Some people might not be aware that their security suite includes a firewall. Norton, I have allowed lime wire in the firewall settings, looked for the gnutella network and wasn’t there. 16. What country are you living in? Sometimes there are ISPs with the same name in more than one country (eg Clearwire in the USA & also in Ireland). Australia. I also have the problem of before I open lime wire I have to delete the lime wire folder in appdata because of the whole loading problems. It just doesn’t stop loading if I don’t delete the folder. I have tried to download the gnutella file again as it says to do in one of the help sections, but since I have to delete the appdata file first it doesn’t work. I have downloaded frostwire and that didn’t work either. Thanks. |

Three possible issues I can see are: Norton firewall always needs to be reconfigured for each new version of LW, thus delete previous firewall rule for LW on Norton & re-add it. Wireless devices have NAT which behaves a little like a firewall. Most nowadays have UPnP which allows the program to request the modem/router to open a port specially for that session. If the modem's UPnP is not a well designed one then it may not work well. In those cases Port Forwarding is the way to go. Make sure the trouble-some LW on the laptop is not using either the same connection or listening port as the LW on the other computer. Only one port can be used per program on the network. Otherwise the router/modem seems to block that port being used by other programs or computers, restricting itself to one single user & one single program for that particular port. So .. way to check is ... go to LW's menu bar, Tools -> Options -> Advanced -> Firewalls. Check the ports on both computers & make sure they are different for both connection & listening ports for each LW. Choose a different port if either computer is using same port, choose one between ports 49152 - 65535 such as port 64049. Oh .. if Norton needs a port range for it's firewall, then add the new port setting too. And then try connecting manually using the File menu -> Connect. |
