Default transferring library from old pc to new pc

Hi,
I'm "new" here and just got a new Dell Inspiron laptop with Windows Vista vs Windows XP but not sure that's my problem.
I was able to download Limewire fine on new PC but can't figure out how to transfer my "playlist" or library from my old pc?
I put everything on the flashdrive and even separately copied each song (800) but it put it on Windows Media Player automatically under PLAYLIST and I can't get them to play there either.
I'd still prefer to upload them back onto Limewire or am I stuck just losing everything due to my change of pc's?

I'm going to assume you actually copied the mp3 files onto your flash drive...

since you already have LW downloaded (and I assume installed) you should have copied those files from the flash drive into your shared folder....sorry, I'm not a Vista or LW user, so I can't give specifics as to where your shared folder is, nor can I comment on just how exactly you made your mistake...you should be able to control where the files went...perhaps you made the mistake of letting Vista take control of the situation...I suspect you had the opportunity of canceling whatever Vista tried to do...as a note, the flash drive should show up in My Computer as a separate drive which you can open up and move files out of..

Hey, thanks~ but, I actually don't have an MP3 player so not sure WHAT file they're actually IN now but yes, they are on in my computer but not actually under MyComputer or MyDocuments (though Vista may call that something else? I dunno. I'm very bad w/computers). Surprised I got this far w/a flashdrive but found a good website about transferring data...
anyways, somehow they are now in a Folder that says Limewire but it's actually on Windows Media Player as a PLAYLIST so it's like they're STUCK? BUT, they are all individualized so seems like I should be able to move them somehow into Limewire's library?
I can still try another way to transfer the songs as they're still on the old pc> I can use the flashdrive again if someone knows how to do it to put it onto Limewire instead of God knows where they're at now...
There must be some computer tech heads out there who'd know how to do this!?

simply point LW to the folder and make it shared...then the files will be shown in LW...

or you can go into LW and determine just exactly what it has set as the shared folder, and move those files into said shared folder...there are actually a lot of possibilities as to how you can deal with this setch...the most important thing is that you have apparently succeeded in moving over the actual mp3 files as opposed to some sort of playlist file (m3u)...

simply double clicking on one of the mp3 files will make WMP open up and start playing said file...

I don't know> I think it's too late and it's already in a playlist m3u but maybe if I try copying them all again from old pc using a shared file that will work? or do them ALL separately from the playlist in Windows Media Player that will work on the current laptop? I don't have a good feeling about this as really don't quite understand the whole shared file thing.
Would I need to do anything w/my firewall if LW downloaded without any trouble?
thanks,
deb

look....go into your old PC and find the actual files....not playlists, the files...it might help if you go to your control panel and make it so that file extensions are shown...do this via Start>Control Panel>Folder Options>View (advanced) and uncheck the box that says hide file extensions for known file types...

now, your files are in your shared folder I assume...in LW, tools>options>sharing (or downloads I guess) and the path of said folder will be given...

go to that folder, and there your files are...

now plug in your flash drive and copy all of the music files onto it...then plug it into your new computer and copy the files off of it, making sure to not allow Vista to take control of the process...

in your first post you use the number 800...well, 800 music files should be about 3.5GB of data....
