I am clicking on the icon on my desk top and the computer recognizes that I have selected LW but nothing happens. It doesn't start up...this is the 3rd problem I have had with LW in a WEEK! What is UP with LW lately?!

I don't use VISTA so cannot advise specifically about it. Best I can advise is to reinstall both your Java & LW. Only use the OFFLINE installers: Download Java software from Sun Microsystems (15 MB size)
Uninstall your previous versions of Java first.
Uninstall LW using the Start menu -> All Programs -> LW -> Uninstall.

Then run this utility: Crap Cleaner

Then install LW again using this installer: http://www9.limewire.com/download/LimeWireWin-full.exe
