4.16 starts instead of 4.18
 

Hi.

I have previously had Limewire 4.16.6 installed on my computer and have attempted MANY TIMES to install and use 4.18.8. It installs successfully and then opens. However, if i attempt to start the program again, even if i close it down straight away and then 2 seconds later start it up again, 4.16.6 starts again.

I have tried and tried and tried and I cannot find a single file on my entire system which relates to the 4.16.6 version - only 4.18.8 files.

So why is 4.16.6 starting?

It may be just the older version Splash Screen and you actually are running 4.18.xx.
Years back this was happening to me.

To check the Version, Click 'Help" and then click "About LW". This will tell you what Version LW and also Java your running.

hey. ive done that everytime it says 4.16.6 starts - and it is the 4.16 version.

any other ideas?

Delete the LW prefs folder. Search your computer for limewire, see how many program versions exist. If LW 4.16 exists then is it in a different location to 4.18? LW 4.18 should have removed the previous version at the beginning of the installation process.

Use the Start menu -> Programs -> LW -> Uninstall, option. (May need to do this twice.) ! Then use either or BOTH _ Crap Cleaner _ & _ Microsoft Windows Install Clean Up to clean registry. Then reinstall LW using this OFFLINE installer: http://www9.limewire.com/download/LimeWireWin-full.exe
