Default Can't connect even with Limewire exception for firewall

I have read a bazillion threads and googled how to fix this and I'm lost. I have an el cheapo ACER operating on Windows Vista. Windows Defender has been turned off and I've already checked Limewire as an exception for my firewall. I have no other security systems on my computer. I've used the basic for a long time with no problems. Within last month or two couldn't connect. I upgraded to PRO last night but nothing has changed. I don't know how to change ports. I'm at my wits end. I want what I have paid for! Can anyone walk me through what I need to do to get LW working like it is supposed to?
