![]() I am told I have an unstable connection and therefore get very few search results. Please dont yell I have tried quite a few things in the last few days and have searched the forum rather well and I am still lost. 1. OS version? Vista 64 bit yes it is the admin acct 2. What firewalls you have? I uninstalled Norton and deactivated the windows firewall so for now none 3. How much ram? 4 Gig 4. Hard Disk space available? 143 Gig Free 5. Connection type? Dsl 6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers? Here we get interesting The modem is a westell b90-210015-04 from there It goes to a d link dl-624m and due to home size to a linksys wrt 54gs 7. Where are you trying to connect from House 8. What version of LimeWire (LW) & Java do you have? Here I am unsure today is 2/23/09 I just downloaded limewire pro 3 days ago as far as java I uninstalled all and am waiting on your suggestions 9. Who is your ISP Verizon 10. I can not earlier today I did and it worked 11. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? If yes, please give details of set up. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface? _ click here to see Sample image If you're using LW5, there's no firewall icon. In LW go tools > advanced tools...there you'll see whether you're behind a firewall or not. Tells me I am firewalled 14. For those using a modem/router, how is your modem/router set up...are you port forwarding or is UPnP enabled? Port forwarding but need instruction on how to do this right 15. What security programs are you using (antivirus etc)? Some people might not be aware that their security suite includes a firewall ![]() 16. What country are you living in? Sometimes there are ISPs with the same name in more than one country (eg Clearwire in the USA & also in Ireland). usa 17. Has anything in your setup changed recently? Have you updated your version of LW or Java? Have you added any new software or new hardware? Have you updated any software? Have you moved house, changed internet plan or ISP etc etc? no |

![]() My thoughts are the problem lies with your set up; the routers ... at least two are port forwardable. And one of those is reknown as a problematic router model series. The latter being the Linksys which can be very unreliable when run in UPnP mode. You could try Port forwarding. ![]() Find your Linksys model here PortForward.com - Free Help Setting up Your Router or Firewall As for your software firewall, choose one or the other, Vista or Norton firewall to run (these two are known to clash); configure the one chosen to allow LW full access: Setting up an exception for LimeWire in your software firewall (click in link) Also, see If LW Will Not Connect (click on the blue link). Disabling performance options might help in your case. Also deleting the gnutella.net file. You may wish to try this first before the very first suggestion. ![]() |
