Please help - system denying access to home url & other problems

Hey Guys

Would someone please be able to help me?

I have been using limewire free on an xp computer, and i was able to access the limewire home url through it, (being able to see the homepage etc.). i recently bought the limewire pro vs.5.1.2, and installed it on my vista computer (vista ultimate). it downloads files, but states that:

Access Denied

Your system policy has denied access to the requested URL.
For assistance, contact your network support team

also, i do not think i am getting the turbo boost for downloading as was given when getting pro. i am not sure what to do.

also, my antivirus program is avg free, and my only firewall is the windows one.

If anyone can help me with this, i would greatly appreciate it

thanks

Which security program gave you this message? And how did this message happen? Was it a due to a file you opened or ... ? :)
Are you using peerguardian?

Hey Lord of the Rings

it is not a security program that gives me this message. when i open limewire, on its homepage it says that access is denied to to the system. i can download movies etc., but cannot access its homepage inside limewire, also, i do not see anything close to turbo boosted speeds...

i have to say though, that i am totally new to limewire, so yeah, forgive me if i get lost

also, i don't use peer gaurdian, or anything like it.

Thanks for replying :D

Is this the first version of LW that you've had on the Vista computer?

Just try deleting LW's preferences folder - it might not help but then it might:)
Check here for instructions: LimeWire Pref Folder in Vista
The main thing to remember is that LW has to be completely closed before you delete the folder - otherwise it won't have any effect.

If you haven't tried LW 4 with Vista, install 4.18.8 & see whether you still have the same problem. You can download 4.18.8 from your Pro download page - there's a link on the left hand side 'get LW Pro classic'.

My friend's ISP prevented her from accessing the LW home page.
LW worked fine on her machine, but I had to dl it from an alternate site.
(Damn, I didn't think to see if it blocked FW, BS, or other p-p sites.)
