iTunes (9) Sharing Playlist and LimeWire (Think this is the right forum, but here goes) I recently upgraded to LimeWirePRO (Well, not that recently) 5.2.13 and iTunes 9.0.1.8, and now I am unable to use the "Matt's LimeWire Tunes" shared playlist. Can anyone help clear this up? 1. OS version? Windows Vista (Admin) 2. What firewalls you have? Windows Firewall. 3. How much ram? 2 GB 4. Hard Disk space available? 397GB. 5. Connection type? Broadband. 6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers? 2WIRE 2701HGV-W 7. Where are you trying to connect from? Home. 8. What version of LimeWire (LW) & Java do you have? LimeWire: 5.2.13, Java: 1.6.0_16 9. Who is your ISP (Internet Service Provider)? Bigpond. 10. Do this simple test for us. What happens when you go there? Your test Worked! 11. I am using a laptop via a Wireless Network Connection, and the other computer is connected via an ethernet cable. 12. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user. New problem, experianced user. 13. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface? Yes. 14. Thanks for the very fast reply. I should have phrased my words better - Matt's LimeWire Tunes IS showing , but there is nothing in the playlist. Not a single song. Unfortunately, nothing that you recommended fixed my problem. It's very strange. |

I've got iTunes set up to look for shared libraries, and all of my LimeWire songs are showing up in LW. I can play most of them through LimeWire, but a few are automatically playing the version in the iTunes library when I click on the in Limewire. |

Were you ever able to see your shared LW tunes playlist when using 5.2.13 with iTunes 9? Which did you update first - LW or iTunes? Did you ever use an older version of LW with iTunes 9? Are your Pro benefits current (ie can you still download a Pro version from your Pro download page whenever you want to)? If your Pro benefits are current & you didn't opt for the 'one off payment' Pro then you could try installing an older Pro to see whether that fixes the issue. But if you don't have current benefits you wouldn't be able to do that & would risk losing your current Pro version, unless you've saved the installer. There have been some issues between LW & iTunes with earlier versions of iTunes. Hopefully it's not happening again with iTunes 9. If this has just started happening since installing 5.2.13, you could also try deleting LW's preferences folder when LW's properly closed. See point 3 here & also point 2 if you've used older versions of LW in the past (there could be a folder in either location). Fixes for LimeWire This will change all of your settings within LW's options, you'll have to go back through afterwards & reset things. If you're not sure of your settings, go through LW's tools > options & write them all down, so that you can reset things later. Vista users: LimeWire Pref Folder in Vista |

No, I have never been able to share with the current version of the software. I updated LimeWire first, I think. Though, it really a re-download for both iTunes and LimeWire because I needed to download the programs for my laptop. I have never used a older version of LW with iTunes 9. I don't think my benefits are still current, though I am planning to get a VISA debit card for myself soon, so I'll repurchase it soon enough. I am considering downloading the free version of LW to see if that works (I don't mind losing my PRO version, I'll repurchase it later). |

Would you like to try an older version of iTunes, to see whether that works? Like I said, I'm using iTunes 7 & there are no probs with the latest stable LW or the Beta versions. Maybe this is an issue with iTunes 9 - check out the links below. Is The New iTunes 9, Limewire Resistant? - Yahoo! Answers Apple - Support - Discussions - Limewire Itunes Connection ... (though this one tells you to change the location of LW's download folder) It can be a bit of a pain to revert to an older iTunes & preserve your library etc... depends whether you have heaps of files in your iTunes library. If you're interested in trying that, rather than losing your Pro LW then check out this link for info: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/327806-post4.html Last edited by birdy; September 26th, 2009 at 12:35 AM. I've got several hundered songs in my iTunes library,so it's a pain to have to put them all back in there. I've downloaded the LimeWire basic, and and downloading iTunes 9.0.1 again, so I'll let you know how it goes when I finish. |

Are you downloading basic 5.2.13 or the Beta (5.3.4)? If you're downloading the same basic version as your Pro version then chances are that you'll have the same problem. Those 2 links that I found suggest that it might be an iTunes 9 issue. You could see whether the latest LW Beta behaves any differently (if you don't mind using a Beta version). There's a link to the Beta here:Get LimeWire for Your Platform - Lime Wire You can preserve your library when downgrading iTunes, the link about downgrading has some info. I've done it several times when switching back & forth between iTunes 6 & 7. So if it does turn out to be an iTunes issue, chances are that you can make the switch fairly painlessly. But of course, it's up to you to choose whether you want to go down that road |
