excessive CPU and memory usage when browsing

used Frostwire for a few years and decided to try Lime again. Overall I like it. I get good connections and search results. Problem is when I browse it freezes up. CPU can go as high as 99% and memory is better than 50%. Eventually it just freezes.

Limewire version 5.5.8.
Java Version 6 update 19 (the latest)
Windows Vista Home Premium SP2
Intel Core2 CPU 6400@2.03ghz
2 GB RAM
32 bit OS

Thanks for any help.

Bill

no help? I read other threads. Some say make sure you have the latest JAVA, others say roll back to 6. What's up with this program? It's worthless if it freezes up.

this is a known bug of recent versions of LimeWire and we are working to fix it currently. Expect a fix soon.

Thank you for the reply. Perhaps my experience will help as I seem to have it working now. I completely uninstalled Java, and this includes all 8 previous versions I had, dating back to update 2. I then used the OFFLINE installer for the latest JAVA 6, (which is update 19) and Limewire is now working fine. Previous to this, I had only used the online installer for the latest version.

I spoke too soon. It's doing it again.
