![]() Must I use the Java version (1.3.1 I believe) installed by the basic Limewire program? I was presented with a warning that I have a higher version number already installed but I ignored that and managed to get Limewire up & running. Since then, other programs accessing Java seem to run slower or not as well. Last edited by Editor; April 10th, 2002 at 03:07 PM. |

![]() what other version(s) of Java do you have installed on your system? it does not make sense to have more than one JRE installed unless for developing/debugging. you can improve limewire performance and overall java performance by upgrading to version 1.4.0 which is faster than 1.3.1. (some java programs had compatibility issues with 1.4.0- check for updates of those.) but you should not be using any java version below 1.3.1! mahalo |

![]() I didn't note the version that was installed. Limewire told me I didn't have 1.3.1 and automatically downloaded that. The install didn't work so following some advice I saw around here, I uninstalled all versions of Java and tried the Limewire Basic download again. This time it worked (installed Java 1.3.1 and Limewire Basic). Now everything else (Pogo Games for example) runs slower. That's why I was asking if I needed that SPECIFIC version of Java or could I load a higher one. |
