If you simply delete the Java version from the file system then then registry entries will point to an invalid location. If this is the case then you should try reinstalling Java 1.8.0_261 and then uninstalling it again via Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel. Also, as stated by CornelisJ, you should ensure that you have the i586 version of Java installed.
